During the team’s 104-91 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, the Celtics became the first team in NBA history to shoot zero free throws in a game. To make matters even more bizarre, the Bucks only shot two, meaning the two teams set a new record for the fewest total free throws shot during an NBA game. The Bucks also committed just four fouls all game, the fewest in NBA history. I didn’t look at the minutes and then I said: ‘Wow, two free throws for a basketball game. Tonight, I hardly remember any whistles.”It was a huge win for a Bucks team that had been on a four-game losing streak and had won just once in its previous seven games.

CNN —Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended for 25 games without pay by the NBA for “conduct detrimental to the league,” the NBA announced Friday. The NBA had suspended Morant for eight games without pay in March after he was seen in another Instagram Live video holding a gun at a nightclub in Glendale, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. The league said Morant’s unpaid suspension runs through the first 25 games of the upcoming 2023-24 regular season. He will not be allowed to take part in any “public” team activities, including preseason games, until the suspension is lifted. Earlier this month, Silver said what was important was not the amount of games Morant was suspended for but rather changing his life path.

suspended Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant for 25 games without pay to start the 2023-24 season after a league investigation found that he had posed with a gun in a video streamed on social media for the second time in just over two months. After the first video, in March, the N.B.A. suspended Morant for eight games, and he apologized. He apologized again after the second video, in May. “Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated.”

The National Basketball Association suspended Ja Morant for 25 games after the Memphis Grizzlies star brandished a gun on a live video for the second time, the league said Friday. Morant, a 23-year-old NBA All-Star, first waved a gun in a livestream from a night club in March, prompting an eight-game suspension. He then displayed a firearm in a car with friends during a second video stream last month. In a statement to ESPN on Friday, Morant apologized and promised he is "going to be better." Morant is endorsed by Nike and Coca-Cola 's Powerade, but the drink company has pulled an ad featuring the NBA star and scrubbed him from social media.

The Grizzlies suspended Morant from all team activities on Sunday, roughly two months after a similar incident that saw him suspended for eight games when he appeared in a live-streaming video on Instagram holding a firearm at a nightclub. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do," Morant said in a statement published by ESPN and USA Today. "My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. NBA commissioner Adam Silver said they were investigating the incident, admitting he was "shocked" when he saw the video after Morant had seemed to take the first suspension "incredibly seriously" when they spoke. He could have injured, maimed, killed himself or someone else with an act like that," Silver said at NBA's draft lottery.
